@MrsT : wasn't it actually a parent committee? The district wants it and it had to be approved by some committee for money to be used as such.

Ok! Thanks. We are looking at buying a new house and want to take high schools into account now that the kids are older.

Neither the district nor the community bond committee wanted it.

I served on the committee and still have all the study info.

Man this is an old thread.

The residents want another high school, but unfortunately as a whole were uninformed leaving Atascocita with a massive school.

A long time ago there were two HS (Humble & Kingwood) and maybe 4 MS (AMS/HMS/KMS/CMS). It is absolutely amazing how much this area has grown.

6 HS and 8 or 9 MS, crazy.

It was the population growth study. Basically the idea is that the schools we have now will be bursting at the seams for 10 years but then level off. They don't want to be stuck with giant empty high schools in places they don't need them. The growth is supposed to happen along the beltway and I think the district already owns land there for a school in the future...or something.

So basically the opposite of flattening the curve.

Personally, I wish they would split Humble ISD into two or three districts. It's too big. And I hope they're right about it leveling off because 4 years later that's not happening.
