It's just like a fiction book about the wild west, or the Victorian age. You shouldn't base your historical knowledge on it. It's for entertainment.

There is quite a lot of info that is factual, a lot coming from his own letters. But seriously how do you make a musical about something that happened over 200 years ago 100% accurate?
The first thing I do when watching something based on truth is find out how much of it actually happened. Here's a good article about some of the liberties taken with the story.

@MrsT : That was my take as well. A lot of people thinks it lacks historical sense, not sure why though (unless they're speaking about the portrayal of historical figures).
 
Either way, I really like that it appeals to Zoomers, mainly young men, and potentially gets them interested in theatre productions. I could totally take my eldest and his friends, and confidently walk away knowing they enjoyed themselves.

@MrsT : honestly, I learned some things about that part of history, that I saw in Hamilton, then researched on my own. I love learning about history.
