Selena was only 23 year old at the time and her death at such a young age and at a time when she was just beginning to crossover into musical forms other than Tejano created one of the greatest "what might have beens" in the history of music. Who knows what she would have done?

There is Bob Wills and then there is a man from Crisp, Texas who continued to put Texas music on the charts

Close your eyes on this one and imagine

I agree with you about Selena. Such a beautiful, talented young lady. I am in awe of her and her music.
She will always be in our hearts.
I love this thread...it is good to pay tribute to the many gifted artists of our times and to re- introduce them to the next generation.

Texas is rich in music influence Country music is not the only thing that came out of Texas .Born in Texarkana Scott Joplin achieved fame for his ragtime compositions and was dubbed the "King of Ragtime Writers". During his brief career, he wrote 44 original ragtime pieces, one ragtime ballet, and two operas. One of his first pieces, the "Maple Leaf Rag", became ragtime's first and most influential hit.

That one is a heartbreaker. As the father of 2 daughters, I cannot watch the ending to the movie, still.
