Federal agents search Rep. Ilhan Omar's home as part of a criminal investigation, AP sources say

WASHINGTON - Federal agents searched Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar's home Monday morning as part of a criminal investigation, according to two people familiar with the matter.

The search was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations agents, said the people who were not authorized to publicly discuss an ongoing investigation and spoke on the condition of anonymity. More details about the investigation and its focus were not immediately clear, though Vice President JD Vance last May signaled that the Trump administration would investigate Omar for immigration fraud allegations, which she has denied.
An email seeking comment was sent Monday, Oct. 12 to a representative for Omar.

The Justice Department said in a statement Monday that HSI agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the department in the Washington, D.C., area but provided no other details.

"This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal criminal investigation," the department said.

A message left with the Department of Homeland Security, of which Homeland Security Investigations is part, was not immediately returned.

Omar, 44, represents Minnesota's 5th District, including Minneapolis. She was first elected to the House in 2018 and has been known as a member of what's called The Squad of female lawmakers known for their progressive views and pointed opposition to the Republican president.

Republicans have raised questions about Omar's past since before she was even elected, including asserting that she had married her brother and committed immigration fraud. Omar has broadly denied the allegations as "disgusting lies."

"It certainly seems like something fishy is there, but everybody's entitled to equal justice under the laws," Vance told reporters in May. "So we're going to investigate it. We're going to take a look at it. If we think there's a crime, we're going to prosecute that crime."

It's interesting to me that 47 loyalist are always screaming about weaponizing the government against someone, namely him. Yet when 47 does it, quite blatantly I might add, there's nary a peep.

This is a straight up in your face, right before the midterms, political move. Forty-seven has telegraphed it for a couple of months now. He directed Todd Blanche to do it, and now he has. What's also interesting, or shall I say disturbing, is when Blanche was asked whether he would take directions on prosecutions from 47, he was noncommittal. Add in the fact that Blanche was once 47s personal lawyer, what could go wrong?

We can expect more bizarre crap from this administration in the next few weeks, and even after the midterms because Trump lashes out when he is backed into a corner.
He is increasingly more unpopular. He sees his rally crowds small and low energy, ... He knows there's only a tiny minority still worshiping him, and even admitted to a crowd this weekend....."I can say the stupidest thing and you still clap", ......showing how little he respects his cult. He's left with only the fools and the last remaining Congress members willing to defend him.
The end is near, but the final days of this madman will be brutal.

I want to see people in government be held accountable for actual crimes not a witch hunt/Lawfare to gain political power.

Andi7 : I'll bet $100 that's all this is.

It'll disappear somewhere around the 3rd week of November.

Just like the "criminal probe" against NBC, CBS, Fox News for refusing to report from the White House after the banishment of CNN for "negative" coverage.

It's all the GOP has done the last 2 years. 100s of millions for investigations on his "enemies" and nothing to show for it.

I'm sure the maga folks would argue that this is justified while investigations into trump were the real witch hunts.

Biden and the AG at the time were extremely overly careful to maintain separation.

Sad thing is that even if there were a legitimate investigation into omar, most of the country wouldn't have any faith in it due to the current regimes track record.

Unfortunately, we're living in an era where, for a lot of people, truth and justice is whatever 47 says it is.

Trump is storming across the country this month speaking to crowds trying to energize his base. When attendees are interviewed and asked why they still love him, they literally repeat his lies......."because he's making things better for us".
When asked "Like what? Name some ways your life is better", .....none of them can name ONE SINGLE THING! But they will keep arguing HIS points as if they really believe them. It's crazy!

Some polls are in the upper 20s on his satisfaction. Fox can only squeeze out a 35 with their own.

Everytime I see a poll, I just wonder who the hell are these 20/30% still supporting him. Have people lost their minds??
He has made billions off the office while his poor supporters pour $$$ into their bills/gas/groceries oblivious to how little he cares about them.
I want to feel sorry for them, but I can't.

Years ago, my husband discouraged someone from running for a political office. The young man was very idealistic and a good person as well. He wanted to change things for better for everyone. My husband told him that it unfortunately does work that way. It should but it doesn't. (We did not want politics to ruin him). He did get involved in the political scene, but he soon understood what my husband had told him. He found out that being honest and trying to change things for the better did not work (and sure did not score any "friends"). It is more about how many favors is one willing to do even if it goes against their grain. Needless to say, that gentleman is not a politician these days. He kept his regular day job. His quest to be a politician did not last long (after he found out what it was actually about). **** Personally, I hate politics, but I participate and do my best to vote for the LESSER evil. Corruption is a virus. It spreads. But remember, if one does not vote, one does not have the right to complain. (Lol ... I like to complain, so I always make it a point to VOTE)! Emoticon

I find the 2019 deal where she faced controversy over filing her taxes.
She filed joint tax returns with a man she wasn't legally married to. Omar and Ahmed Hirsi filed joint federal tax returns for 2014 and 2015, even though she was legally married to another man, Ahmed Elmi, at the time.
Then there is a tax trouble with her husband's companies and her tax filing in 2025. Everyone on here knows this happened and was a big deal sometime back. I thought, just like always, nothing would ever come of it. Seems they find these people in congress doing illegal stuff but they never get in trouble for it. So if the DOJ is going after her for something I would say about time. I guess they were doing stuff in the back ground and got enough to go after her. A dem judge signed off on it. Will this affect her re-election. Nope, she is Muslim with Muslim constitutes and look at the state she is in.

Atascocita888 : Yes, she was separated from legal husband at time. Once it was discovered, ALL taxes were corrected, paid, and penalties paid. No hissy fits thrown.

Current stuff, being worked through with cooperation.

Remind me who helped elect a convicted fraud felon again?
