@Floyd :I also took "Spanish" as an elective in High School, hoping to be able to converse more just in case I needed to eventually....Only problem was, I wanted to learn conversational Spanish, the class actually ended up doing written Spanish....And then my Mexican/Hispanic friends in the class(who took the course as an EZ-A for them) were telling me that the "Spanish" that they were teaching was real "formal", only spoken by the "higher-class" people in Mexico....Oh hell no!....I wanted to learn HOOD Spanish and not to write a book either!....So........I used the class as a "Homework doing" and "catching up on sleep" class....It was only one semester....

English is harder, or hardest to learn because a lot of our words have double meanings; and then, there are words that have the same meaning, but different spelling.

Yeah... I was told I was learning "Spain" Spanish, not "Mexico", Spanish... I imagine similarly one of us may go into the heart of London and strike up a conversation with a local and not know what the hell they are talking about... Hell you can go from one end of our country to another and the dialect changes enough to get confusing.
