Cougar-sized cat seen in Pinehurst. Time to put out your trailcam.

We received the following email from the HOA:

From a Homeowner

At around 6am on the morning of Tues, 2/17 my wife informs me that she almost hit a large cat, the size of a great Dane (~70lbs). It was near Rebawood and Legend Oak. I tried in vain to call Harris County Animal Control. Thought you might know who to call to make a report. It is likely maybe a Bobcat or a Cougar. Probably someone's exotic pet.

...it's a wonder that we step outside our front door each day, isn't it?
We have thieves, speeders, panhandlers, rude people and now we have to worry about a large cat the size of a great dane..

Wild animals do exist around here. There was a coyote around a while ago. So glad we don't have bears!

About a year ago we had this same discussion & I told you all I had seen one about 23 yrs ago over in the Oaks .I am not trained to know the difference between Puma , Panther Or cougar , I just know it was approx. body length 5 ft long & then long tail . Very odd time to see it I think I remember early afternoon . They are moving & hunting at night & very early morning . Solid black & very healthy looking well fed animal . We have deer & pigs in our area & people's pets they leave out that they feed on .
