Atascocita: Sting Ends With Arrest of Man Accused of Seeking Sex With a Minor
An undercover online investigation in north Harris County led to the arrest of a man accused of attempting to meet someone he believed was a juvenile for sexual activity, according to Constable Mark Herman's Office. Precinct 4 said investigators with its Criminal Investigations Division used social media while posing as juveniles as part of an operation targeting adults allegedly seeking sexual contact with children.
Officials said Maximiano Torres communicated online on August 18th with a person he allegedly believed was a juvenile, but who was actually an undercover constable investigator. Torres then reportedly traveled to an undisclosed location in north Harris County, where investigators were waiting and took him into custody.
The Harris County District Attorney's Office accepted a charge of Online Solicitation of a Minor. Torres was booked into the Harris County Jail, with bond set at $80,000 out of the 176th District Court. Precinct 4 also reported that an ICE detainer has been placed on him.
An arrest and charge are allegations, and the case will proceed through the legal process.
