@B12Fan
Pantera fan...I have 2 indy albums done by them, while still in high school. I lived in Arlington at the time, and they were a pretty big deal locally.

Barry White was born in Galveston in 1944 and is one of the few artists to have sold more than 100 million records worldwide. What a classic!

Yes, thank you for posting. Music has the wonderful magic of transporting us back to where we were when we first heard it. Barry White's voice was considered very sensual and was the theme song for many love making sessions back in the day ....
Thank you for the transport today. I needed it.

LOL...can't say you have lived and loved, until you have spent a night with Barry White low on the stereo.
Although I self proclaim superior knowledge on all things Texas...I have to admit that I did not know he was from Galveston until reading a recent story about him.

Famously from Seattle...Pearl Jam had a Texas connection in the drummer here, David Abruzeese. David is from Mesquite TX, and went to North Mesquite high school with yours truly.

How could we forget : Freddy King born in Gilmore Texas King became an influential guitarist with hits for Federal Records in the early 1960s. His soulful and powerful voice and distinctive guitar style inspired countless musicians, particularly guitarists (Eric Clapton being a notable example of a guitar legend who idolized King). He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.

We have lost 2 Texas Music pioneers today. Emilio, an old friend of ours, for one. My wife posts below...

It was with great sadness I woke up to find that Emilio had passed on. My heart goes out to his family, friends and fans. I had the pleasure of meeting and performing with Emilio back in the 90's and he was nothing short of amazing. Later we were in Nashville recording our albums and we met up for dinner and drinks. He knew how nervous I was about getting in the studio. He bought me a shot, removed his hat from his head and revealed to me his motto. "Live, Love and Laugh" which was inscribed inside. He told me not to sweat the little things and assured me all would be fine if I lived by those 3 little words. We had a great time that night and I was honored to call him my friend. I very recently watched a current live performance of he and his brother Raul where they both became very emotional. My heart really aches for Raul as he was more than just Emilio's brother. Praying for all right now. Rest in peace Emilio, you will be missed.

Who was the 2nd?
And that is amazing that your wife recorded. Maybe I missed the posts but sounds like we may have celebs on ADC that we are not aware of.
Would love to hear stories and bio of any music that you would be willing to share with us.

@MooMaw
Guy Clark passed as well. I updated the previous post to be more clear.

My wife had a recording contract in the 90's . I was just a guy playing guitar around town when we met. She had moderate radio success, but not major market airplay (Houston). She had a video on CMT rotation for a while. She did shows with Emilio, Willie, Tracy Byrd, Bellamy Bros...etc, as well as all the Texas dancehalls. It was fun for a while.
All I can say is...kids change your priorities in life.
