A humble recommendation and an @ADC request of article links. I really am not trying to be Board police , just an attempt to keep a wall of words from detracting from good debate my friend.

Post a link to the article, then, as Joe requests, post an excerpt or summary/conclusion to the linked article.

So, it would look like this...

www.cbpp.org/researc h/the-texas-economic -model-hard-for-othe r-states-to-fol

Finally, as noted above, Texas invests less than other states in its infrastructure and in educating its workforce. This, too, could cause problems for the Texas economy in the future.
Other states should think twice before they make major changes in their tax and budget policies in an effort to generate the growth that Texas has seen in recent years. This growth is a result of the interaction of a host of factors that cannot be replicated by other states, and perhaps should not be replicated even if they can be. In addition, there are many reasons to believe that Texas' economy will not continue to shine so brightly relative to other states.

It's a decent article......but represents classic data mining.....one could say the same thing about the USA vs the other world economies frankly.

Now, I have a question. Does anyone else here have a problem with a potential prosecutor of statewide elected officials holding office at these pleasure of Travis County voters. Not one of the members here voted to elect this official who could prosecute our elected governance.

Why is this not reserved for the Attorney Generals office? The electorate of a single county should not have such potential influence, IMHO......

I'd appreciate considered thoughts on the matter.

@Clydepuckett expand that argument to a national level -

actually without reviewing constitutional rights/responsibilities of prosecutor - that is somewhat a hard argument to make - beyond a casual conversation.

I would add however - that limiting a local jurisdictions ability to combat instances of abuse of power - could lead to a bit of a dictatorship.

If the abuse of power occurs in a certain jurisdiction it should be able to be brought within that jurisdiction.

Has he made the cut to be on stage? If so, they will probably use him to be the sacrificial lamb to attack Trump so the others can stay clean.

It is going to get real interesting if Trump's numbers rise some more after the debates.

@redneck roy

I think I understand what you are saying. I f'ing hate that Congress has abdicated its authority to the executive branch in promulgating rules associated with laws. We don't vote for the career bureaucrats who end up writing the rules attached to legislation these days. I have no problem with our Atty Gen prosecuting crimes against an elected official as he/she represents the administration elected by all citizens....and screw ups will reflect poorly on the judgment of the Pres.

My question is a different scenario. How does the Travis County DA get to determine prosecution of elected officials. Forget the Perry rabbit hunt.....that office prosecuted Tom Delay.....for alleged issues far exceeding Travis County jurisdiction. I'd be fine with the State Atty General maintaining a department to pursue these matters. Can't see how a locally elected county official is authorized to prosecute matters outside the jurisdiction. Can the Harris County DA bring charges against any Texas CongressCritters?......Don't know the answer...but I've never seen it.

IMHO, the prosecution of elected officials should reside in the office of the State AG.....

Did I miss your point? Sorry if I did.
