Finally got my husband completely moved from Austin to here. The Penske van included several things I have gone without for a long time including a GRILL. Man am I looking forward to steak, burgers and keeping my kitchen clean and cool!

Give the people what they want, right. Massive housing developments with little regard for wildlife and established flora, convenience stores on every corner, and fast food on each side of the road.

I hear ya.
We moved here to find balance - my kids wanted a "regular neighborhood", husband wanted nature and privacy and I wanted something where I could commute to work and the kid's school.

Honestly I carry the biggest burden because I drive a lot everyday. The thing is that we wanted our retirement home now - while the family can enjoy it and we are young and strong and able to maintain the land and house. One thing I have learned - you never know how long you will live - grab the love, the life you want NOW. I am living my golden years NOW.

@Sheltie_Momma Good words. That's why I'm trying to convince my wife that we need to move back to the Pac NW as soon as the kids are out and on their own. It'll be a few years yet, but we can start planning now. Neither of us will be happy here long term, and getting back to an outdoor life is something I want to do while still reasonably young and active.

We agree. There's nothing around here that's fresh and great. For the last few weekends, we've been venturing to the Heights and enjoying the local restaurants there. There are some great places off Yale and White Oak. It's so worth the drive because we find ourselves walking the streets and playing in the city parks.

Northern California ,Oregon, Washington state , British Columbia Once I went there I was ready to move & would do it if it weren't for my kids & grandkids . Love those states .I love the wilderness areas of Canada because of all the animals . Like the San Juan Islands also .

@cbp210 That's where we had my son and daughter-in-laws rehearsal dinner. I'm not a huge fan of Greek food, except for Greek salad. Other people in the group said it was good though.

I just love their lamb meal. My wife is into the greek salad and she loves it while my daughter loves the gyros.

There was a place in downtown Humble a few years ago, called The Health Food Cafe. I did some work there, and the owner gave me some kind of beef dish to go in appreciation of the high quality of work I performed... Emoticon

It was pretty good, and freshly made...you could tell. I never got a chance to go back before they closed.... Emoticon
