I would like to think that people are going to worship God.

@MooMaw I'd like to think that too, but I'd venture a guess that most dont recall the message by the time they finish lunch.

@MooMaw not asking what it meant to you, asking if you recall the message at all? It's only been a little over 24 hours or so. I read years ago how few people recall details even by lunchtime after church. It was a high percentage.

@MooMaw in some churches that are huge, a significant percentage couldn't recall properly which of their pastors spoke 3 days later lol. I guess they were snoozing.

To answer your question, the message was to be the person that God created you to be...do not let the negativity of others effect you. You are the child of the most High God, made perfect in His image.

Every church is different. Some are run by people trying to get money and some are not. Personally, I don't trust the churches started by people who essentially don't answer to anyone else. But if someone else get something positive from their experience, who am I to criticize?
The number one complaint I have about any church is members who don't live by the beliefs of that church and are very open about it. For example, someone is highly involved in Church and claims to be that faith, but then treats those from a different socioeconomic status as beneath them. So you are probably right, for many people church does them no good.

Our message Sunday was to listen to God, not the many other voices that try to crowd into your mind. I will say that if the message really speaks to you, then you most likely remember it a lot better. But even if that particular message doesn't resonate with you - there is probably another person at the service that it does strike a chord with. I'm glad to have found AUMC because it has made a difference for my faith walk.

We attend Christ the King Lutheran in KW. (Just past Creekwood MS.) We have many members who "grew up Catholic" and "grew up Baptist". We focus on discipleship, have lots of missional opportunities both local and abroad, fun children's ministy, etc.

@MooMaw We actually attended the 11am service yesterday. Unfortunately DD's friend who spent the night before came along & ended up having a bit of a melt down during class, so we left half way through. Will give it another shot when it's just the 3 of us for sure.

@Heathur so was MooMaw accurate in her statement about the message?? ;-). Maybe you didn't get to stay long enough to get to the message.
