@ Sheltie: you mentioned tough for the kids because they haven't changes schools. How about in the neighborhood? Are there lots of kids elementary and middle school age? Or is is it predominately empty nesters and/or families with older kids high school and college aged?
We'd be hoping there are lots of younger kids.

@Sheltie_Momma Sounds like a very nice place out there. If I thought I could afford to, I'd give it a serious look.

My girls go to Huffman schools. It has its ups and downs. Love the small town everyone knows everyone feel. Schools tend to focus on the higher and lower students. (Grades) Kids in the middle tend to fall through the cracks. My older child (junior)is advanced and is very much a go getter and the teacher and staff really push her hard. And are super supportive. My second child (8th grade)is lazy and skates by on C's. It like she is invisible at school. No one really takes any real initiative to help her until I get involved. Sounds bad, but I really do love our schools. I love living in Huffman.

We have lots of friends that live in the commons and our Neighbor is a bus driver for that area. It is expanding and the Transpotation Department had to add another bus because of the amount of kids.

Anyone hear of any plans for a new golf course out there? Or maybe plans to improve the Sanctuary/Red Wolf course?

@GregButtle

There are a lot of kids, we had a neighborhood event (cook-off) and they had inflatables and petting zoo etc. and there were tons of kids.

It's pretty cool actually - you see golf carts with 7 or 8 boys in just shorts drinking dr pepper zipping around to go swim at the lake or fish at the docks. It's like how life was when my Dad was a boy.

For us the problem is really more logistics - you can't even see our house from the street so it's hard to meet people even if you are out on your porch all the time.

When I lived in Southie the kids played in the street, so all you had to do was run outside and once kids knew where you lived they would come by to see if you were home. When everyone is on 2,5, 10 acre lots - you don't have the same level of interaction. Nice for adults, not as nice for kids.

Our plan is to throw a big party this summer and invite everyone from several streets all around - that way the kids can all meet each other.

@analogkid
The only way we got our place was because it is a log cabin which is very taste specific and that impacted the pool of interested buyers. We happen to be laid back hippies so a log cabin was perfect for us, we felt the value was in the lot and knew we could fix the house up over time. It's livable but very rustic.

@Sheltie_Momma Sounds even better. My ideal would be a log cabin type house situated in the foothills of the Washington Cascades. Not a good likelihood of happening, but it's nice to think about.

@Sheltie_Momma Thank you for your description of The Commons. No one has been that detailed in describing it to me. It is not for me, but I know a lot of people that would love living there. One of my dogs would love all that land, but being a widow, I think I will stick to ES living. Sounds like a great place for families!

I remember a while back people posting somewhere about problems with the water in The Commons. Is that ever an issue? And does anyone who is out there ever hear about anyone's septic not being adequate for the size house and number of occupants?

@lynnsgirl Ask him how much his water bill is . We had a lady that lives out there tell us their water was expensive . The lots in FC are less than Commons .

Do you play golf there in FC? Sanctuary / Red Wolf? Been a while for me so wondering if course has improved. Or maybe there are plans to put some money into it?

We haven't had any water problems except for having to descale things quite often. Our bill is $40 a month for 4 people, 3 full baths, no septic problems. We don't use the disposal, I've heard that contributes to problems.
