Sounds like the same two groups that argued about pardoning those that went to Canada during the 60's.
Time will take care of it and the next generation will never know or remember it happened, or care less.

Not at all, just wait for his fair trial. However, in my opinion, he's in a world of hurt by his own actions.

Hindsight is 20/20 - I reckon I am glad obama took steps to get him home. I wonder if members of congress would have taken steps to block it -even if they knew then what they know now.

Imagine the outrage if he had gone full ISIS and was fighting on the militant side - and it became publicly known that we had passed up an opportunity to retrieve him.

He is an American - he is our problem - we should deal with him. I am fine if he rots in jail for the rest of his life - as long as justice is served. Every soldier that died or was injured either searching for him - or due to information gained by the taliban from him deserves the justice of him getting prosecuted for his crimes.

As it has been expressed that he remains innocent until proven guilty - If my memory serves - military court system is somewhat different from civilian court system; not a sympathetic system.

As far as the 5 exchanged for him - - if they return to the battlefield - or are found to be active in terrorism - they can be dealt with properly ;

Gitmo continues to be a black eye for America. There are many there who will live out the rest of their lives in captivity having never been charged with or prosecuted for a crime. If they are considered POWs - are we obliged to free them upon end of war? if they are terrorists - are we obliged to prosecute them?

What would Ted do?

That is correct....and I'm not sure that's a good thing IMHO.

Some had 20/20 foresight. This puke was a transfer mechanism to help empty out Gitmo...an important goal for this administration.....for whatever reason. Meanwhile we donated a significant sum to fight an election in Israel. And then had the gall to sulk when it didn't work. Chicago politicians are predictable for sure.

So - should he have been left inafghanistan? In your humble opinion?

although there was plenty of evidence that he was a deserter all along had the administration cared to look; I still am in favor of recovering and prosecuting him. It apears that it wasn't just that 5 of our boys were killed looking for him, but from information he divulged.

Key words right there''''

It appears that it wasn't just that 5 of our boys were killed looking for him, but from information he divulged.

And we had a Rose Garden ceremony celebrating this...

I take your point. We had a duty to pursue him....as a criminal. But, that ain't it how was sold....it was either **** poor negotiation or negligence, willful or otherwise or as I said, an orchestrated drama to unload some jackholes from Gitmo.

Whatever....it's done. Mr Honor and Distinction will not enjoy USMJ's opinion of his service I predict.

Saw on a news talk show that Bama would be a key witness for the defense because of the comments he made about how he served honorably.

I would pay to see him squirm on this.
