@book73 : I think I want to wait and see what kind of side effects people get. Also.... what is the difference in vaccines from different pharmaceutical companies?

@sandman : Oh wow, how long does it take to get prime there? We live on prime (even though they don't always make the time guarantees) but it's usually just a day after the stated delivery time. Hell, we order coffee, dog food, laundry soap, and all our supplements on prime. We would be screaming bloody murder if we had to wait too long.

@mastiffrex :

Best care scenario is 3 days, average is one week. Worst case is one month, like for large items, with the frustration been that they don't ship immediately, but like 2 or 3 weeks later.

The best case scenario is for items shipped from Seattle and ordered on a Monday or Tuesday. If I order on a Wednesday that means Saturday delivery, which typically comes in at 8 or 9 PM and there is a high chance that there will be a "delay" and delivered at the "next opportunity" which means the following Monday or Tuesday.

Most Prime deliveries are by USPS; I rarely get stuff on UPS or Fedex, as their rates to AK are similar to a foreign country.

I used to buy all supplies on AMZN, but now it's best just to go to Fred Meyer's (Kroger's) down the street. I get to put three layers of clothing, get on the icy roads and put on a face covering, just to get coffee.

@texas2011 : We can't wait to get ours either . Are we suppose to wait for a call? Our understanding was that all medical & essential people would get theirs first . So that list would be massif . I'm over 72 & hubby is almost 76. Both high risk . Hubby going to have surgery soon .

This came out today on KHOU regarding vaccinations, but not sure if you have to live in Houston to go-
www.khou.com/article /news/health/coronav irus/vaccine/houston -health-departm

I expect to see more and more opportunities pop up. In Texas we should be in Phase 1B which is everyone over 65. (National guidelines are age 75 but Gov. Abbott tweeked that to 65.)....It's just a matter of availability and getting the systems in place to distribute it. Ideally we would've had that in place already since we've known for months, but ....oh well......

@bbk : yes, I would call your doctor and ask their recommendations. The surgeon for your husband might have some input whether it is better before or after the surgery.
Maybe they have a waiting list? Or can direct you to a place to go?
I'm just now starting to hear of doctors' offices getting it in, and some are sending out emails to their patients saying midJanuary.

I've only had one family member get the vaccine, it was the Moderna at UT, she is a nurse. My mom lives in a rural area so I expect that will take longer for her area to have availability but she is so ready! She misses playing cards with her friends!
