Texas Economy Shut Down Because???

There has been as of July 1 a total of 2,481 deaths because of Covid-19 in Texas.
However, 949 and 145 which totals 1,094 were deaths from Covid in nursing homes and assisted living homes. So 2,481 - 1,094 = 1,387 deaths of people actually walking around and shopping and doing stuff.
I know this isn't over yet but can you tell me what other cause of death, that takes 1,387 lives in a 5 month period that we would EVER shut down all the businesses?????

Everyone has the right to see these stats not just the people who check the political box. If it turns political those who did not check the political box are more than welcome to not keep reading after this .

I think we need to stop looking at one event.

We are trying to stop the spread. Why?
1. We have no cure
2. Hospitals can't function or make money if they are loaded up with Covid patients.
3. To save lives

How can we stop the spread?

We all know. But some think that washing hands and face coverings are. Interfering with their freedoms. Some think this is a hoax.

We are Americans and need to do our part.

By the way, they have closed schools for the flu some years because they couldn't control the spread.

If I was in Seminole, Tx and Dickey's BBQ Pit was closed because of what is happening in the major cities, I'd be ****.

@Clydepuckett :

that's where my team used to take me to eat lunch when I had to go there... not many options, unless you go across to Hobbs in NM (which is in a different time zone and always drove me crazy)

@sandman :

I get it. Your point stands. No reason for anything in Seminole Tx to be shut down. Even Dickey's.

@757beach : A little exaggerated but we all need to take responsibility so that businesses can stay open and/or re open.

Most important thing to do is stay home if you are high risk.

Hospitals can't function if the government shuts everything down and says no operations that are not necessary. Look at how many people needed operations that couldn't have them in the first few months of the virus. It was just opening up where they could and now it's shut down again. The cities run on tax dollars from business. No business making money on you and me and no money to run the cities and counties. Are they going to tax our property to high heaven? Money has to come from some place to pay for all those things a city And the county spends on money on. You can see from the stats where the danger is and it's not in the schools, or most of the populous That is out and about.

That's wrong. If onlyCV-19 patients and the hospital was full of nothing but those they would print money. Shutting elective cases and depressing bed counts waiting on that day is revenue in the reverse. (And a morality issue as others would die from something else of course)

Federal funds involved in the CV 19 make your point non responsive at best. Literally wrong at worst.

Prove me wrong.

@757beach :

Just a general question. When do we stop? Do you have number? Zero cases throughout the USA?
A number the press tells you is acceptable?

Remember we shut down to protect healthcare facilities from over burden...both on occupancy and PPE supply. We did that. And now you and your buddies want to move the goal posts?

Sounds about right sadly. And the media is behind you 100%. So you've got that going for you.

@757beach : Wrong as usual

Federal government subsidizes those beds AGAIN liberals like to make up problems for everyone else to deal with.

I have always said this is a political year and libs want to manufacture this crisis to promote universal healthcare for all. Thats the only cure and mandatory vaccination.

Interesting since when did Vice President Pence become a liberal, wasn't he asking people to wear mask? Gov Abbott is a liberal? So essentially anybody that states coronavirus is real is a liberal?

As I drive, eat , and shop in Atascoicta, I see pretty much everything is till open except bars. Am I missing something? What is this shutdown people are talking about? The bars and clubs?

ONLY 5,000 or so americans died on 9/11. care to put this in perspective and compare the price and life chances we still absorb from 20 years ago? still have soldiers dying as a direct result.

it would be nice if covid could be identified immediately upon spread, but the 3 - 4 week lapse between contamination and identification makes it tough. combine that with our failure to quickly start testing, we were flying completely blind when the economy was shut down.

I suppose between 20/20 hindsight and selective memory, the shutdown, which was massively successful at postponing the spread, could have been managed differently.

pro-life is taking on a whole new meaning isnt it? LOL....

@JustSayn : looking purely at death is a complete fallacy. The hospitals here are overrun. They've started shipping critical patients out. There is also over an hour wait to unload an emergency arrival as they scramble to make room. Nice try.
