U can go to the truck and get ur package. Just show ur id. Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago and my son, used to work for DHL and FedEx, told me to follow the truck on the app and approach the driver. They appreciate the one less stop they have to make.

I agree...I have watched them drive all around my neighborhood for hours before finally making it to my house. Either it has something to do with the way their truck is loaded...or they don't have much on the truck to deliver and they are just trying to kill time for the day.

Idk whats going on but people are ordering online like crazy the past few weeks. We had 100 orders this morning just in our department. It wasn't like that when we came back in May.

@sandman : I've worked on efficiency (Euler) circuits before and had experience with UPS system in college. It may seem like "but the truck is one street over!" The story is it may be wholly inefficient to jump over to your house for your convenience because now the truck is facing the wrong direction and headed away from another cluster of deliveries.It may be an extra block to stop at you first but if a truck did this 3 times a day across the whole network, it equates to tens of millions of dollars in unnecessary fuel burn.

@Jagger : I can assure you it's not the case. Today they know the stops and distance to travel before the driver leaves on the route. No cruising for them.

I have watched them drive everywhere but my house. Even when they are in front of my house it shows them 3 houses down. 🤷
