People being selfish & lazy.
I ran a quick errand both last nigh and tonight, and saw mulitiple jerks parking illegally in the handicap spaces and also the ones that are designated for pregnant moms. Finally, last night as I was pushing my cart to the car, I spoke up and asked a boy with a girly hair bun, if he was a pregnant mom. He smarted off and went in the store.
It took me a while to unload my cart and as I was backing, the young jerk shouted at me, asking what I was doing, as I'd been there before he went in (he was inside briefly to buy one item). He cursed continually, acting like an enraged spoiled brat. I drove away.
Tonight, a car with no handicap plates or placard was parked in the only handicap space in front of the store. As I was waiting for any parking space, the illegally parked driver came out and addressed me angrily when he saw me looking at him, so I in turn told him what he already knew, that he wasn't supposed to park there. He screamed & cursed that his wife was handicapped.. I didn't ask him about a placard, but told him if a handicap person does not get out of the car, the driver can not use the parking space.
That's when he started calling me names and (using vile profanity) told me what to do, also saying he could park there even if the handicap person didn't get out. I could see a child in the back seat and possibly more than one was hearing his daddy yell awful obscenities.
Why? Because he was too lazy and inconsiderate of anyone who legally needed that space. Like the punk at the grocery store, he didn't care about anyone as long he didn't have to walk a few extra steps. The man at the store tonight needed to walk; he was an overweight slob driving a nice black VW sedan, setting a bad example for his child.
We have to speak up when jerks are breaking the law just because they know they can or show complete disregard for what is morally right.

I got honked at because I pulled over and stopped for an ambulance. I had a couple 4 letters for them. What if that was your fam I bet you'd expect everyone to follow the law

I use a placard and have gotten out and forgot to hang it a couple of times, it is against the law to drive with them hanging but 80% do. I have had a few people yell at me but whatever.
I have also spoke up if someone is parked in the wrong spots.. Be considerate.

It pisses me off when we take our FIL out, who can't walk at all, and we can't find a Handicap space because all are taken. Usually about half of the cars in those spots don't have or bother to hang the placard. And I also see a lot of folks that look perfectly fine walking into and out of those vehicles. I don't know how or why they are getting those placards... like, are doctors signing those forms if you're dairy intolerant? Jesus!

Only thing I'm going to say right now is be careful who you call out because people like that will shoot you.

Guy in area who parks in handicap has placard but has a sign on truck advertising pressure washing, lawn care & detailing & I've seen him out working sorry people who neglect those who really need spaces, need a law if you get caught in space with out a legit handicap you can't use on in the future at all, that would stop that crap

It's been 7 months since I contacted our sorry commissioner, adrian garcia, both by phone and by email regarding this issue and better enforcement of illegally parked vehicles, including people using someone else's placard and also the actual handicap person not getting out of the car, while a perfectly healthy driver/passenger uses it to get a close parking place.
I will always call out a jerk who violates the handicap space (and anyone who litters). As for the fear of getting shot holding me back from standing up for what is right, I also have my CHL.

Be careful who you call out...... And don't assume that you are dealing with someone who
cares ... If they don't care, you are just wasting your time and energy.....

Wrong is wrong, but be careful about who you go at... this area isn't what it used to be and it's not worth your life to just make a point....

But huge thumbs up for having the balls to stand up for what is right....

Some sickness/diseases do not show, so that is not fair, I have dropped off my aunt at front door and then parked in handicapped parking spot. A few times she has said she just wants to sit in car. Be careful who you judge!

@ChloeW : From what I have been able to find the law doesn't require that the disabled person exist the vehicle, just that the vehicle is used for the transportation of a disabled person.

this really annoys me too. One of cousins was confined to a wheelchair his entire life and I would get so frustrated even as a child when my aunt and uncle would have to park away from the handicap spots because other people just wanted to be closer to the store.

Another thing that I noticed happening at HEB and Target lately is people driving up to the walkway (where the balls are) and parking. These are not designated parking spots (to my knowledge) and it is really irritating to have to navigate around them.
