Well we went today, same old greenish brown water but slightly clearer. I suppose we should have gone out to Tiki Island, but husband wanted to go to Stewart Beach, so it's his fault.

@chasinghosts : Maybe all those people being there changed the color. I drove through on Friday about 10 am and the beaches were already full. It is what it is, it is close. It is still blue in my area this morning but the beaches are never overrun here. I don't think we will ever be in competition with Florida but we can get to a beach in almost an hour.

@West-Tex : Had family living in SR island in the 60's 70's. Spend a month there just about every year. Much nicer back then. The y'all condos hadn't started yet. Some of the prettiest beaches. And the sand talks to you when you walk on it. Enjoy your time.

@ladybeachbum : Yes, I think that's true. Stewart was really packed when we got there at 2:30.

@chasinghosts : Santa Rosa Island is the barrier island off Pensacola Fl. It's Pensacola Beach.

I was at the Sea Wall Saturday and it was clear. I was chest deep and could still see my feet!
