@Cabin_Mama, I work for an insurance agent. I'm his "office staff", answering emails/creating spreadsheets/creating quotes/making calls when necessary etc. I'm still in the same business I retired from, but doing different, less stressful stuff.Is there a way for you to use your skill set to do something similar for one person or business?

@Cabin_Mama congrats! That is a hard decision to make, but your family will be better off. I know not eveyone can do it, but if you can it makes all the difference. There are trade offs, but the time with the family will be worth it.

@AlettertoElise :I think probably yes. I am qualified to work for a financial analyst. There is also an opportunity to use my degree (psychology) and work with kids that I want to explore. We shall see.

@cbp210 :Well the community is sure lucky to have you for another few years! I love the San Antonio area and have family there as well.

@757beach :Thank you. I have always felt like I would never depend on anyone for anything but my heart has softened to be more trusting and to feel like I bring value and worth to the family outside of just making money.

@Cabin_Mama I would love to stay but then again I made a promise to wife that if she came with me here that during my final year with my employer we will make plans to return to the San Antonio area or at least the hill country locations. Things can change though and we might stay depending on the kids.

Well its so cheap to live here. If we moved it would be to someplace where we could go even simpler and cheaper (mexico?)

@Cabin_Mama Mexico would be awesome as her ties are strong there and she access to property through her grandparents on father side.

We were there over Thanksgiving, spent some time in the Mayan communities - simply amazing. I felt a very strong connection. It's definitely on our short list to consider.
