I remember back before the 2012 election Obama telling that Russian offical to tell Putin that after the election he would have more flexibility, not knowing his mic was still on.

I also remember Ol Ted Kennedy sending letters to the Russians back in the early 80's telling them to wait Regan out until the Democrats get the White House.
