There was a story similar to this one several years ago on 20/20 (or Dateline? It was a very fancy house off of a canal). DH and I literally watched it with our mouths hanging open. I don't know why this law was initially put into place, but with the nature of the human condition these days, it clearly needs to be re-evaluated!

I think I'm going to mosey on over to the Groves, find me a home and squatt. I'm not digging mine anymore! I'm just in aw with people sometimes. My brother and his girlfriend used to live with me way back when. She tried to tell me I couldn't kick her out. I put her stuff on the front lawn. It was a mess! Short of calling the cops, she finally got the hint when she couldn't get in. Tried telling me she owned half my house and its contents. No beach! The nerve of people.
