Yeah.. it's called a vacation..Me-ternity?!? Are you kidding me? Bringing home a newborn child is wayy harder than being at work..This hack needs a reality check..

Wow - I can't see her point - at all. What about all the men that work 12+ hours daily and don't get time off when the baby comes except to use his vacation? I agree with the "vacation" post.

If a woman is made to do extra work because someone goes on maternity leave, that is a different story and should be taken up with the employer. She should get extra compensation, but not a ME-ternity.

@monyhoney - Your point regarding extra compensation is valid; however, in today's economy it is unlikely.

@monyhoney I see what you are saying but I am in O&G. With two rounds of lay-offs, I have taken on several new job responsibilities, including one from outside of my department. I am not hollering for more money. I thank God everyday I still have my job. Some people in O&G have taken % pay cuts. If she is not happy with her working conditions, she is free to seek employment elsewhere.

heh, back in 97 when my youngest was born, my husband got fired for not being at work the whole day . No, I kid you not. Fortunately, another company that they did work for heard about it and hired him immediately.
