@redneck roy Thanks! I knew you would know being a cyclist. This is very helpful info . I still cringe when I see a cyclist out and about this area because of the heavy traffic.
For awhile there was a gentleman on Atascocita Rd going toward BW8 during rush hour and I would just cringe because people were passing him in the same lane.

My heart aches for this family. I used to see him almost every night on my way home from work. His bike was VERY well lit with a string of blue lights. When I saw him and his bike there I just cried. I will be praying for his family and friends.
This is, in part, why I fail to understand the lack of road planning down here, where so many roads have zero shoulder. Obviously, this does nothing to prevent things from happening when motorist strays from their lane or a cyclist makes an unexpected maneuver
Bicycles are transportation and must obey the laws but so do the motorists around them So tired of motorist not giving them the road they deserve!!! Sorry and praying for the family
Between now and Mid-April there will be many cyclists (including me) on the roads trying to get ready for the MS-150. But I try to limit my training to organized rides where there is usually a police presence in heavy traffic areas.

@MooMaw The rules are you must give the cyclist 3 ft on either side. I am a cyclist and I have had school buses pass me close enough for me to touch the side of it.

@B12Fan I actually was riding that morning and came upon the scene at 8am and was not sure what happened. My condolences go out to the family and the driver. We all need to be aware of the other pedestrians (walking or riding) on the roads.
