eighteen : Stafford

@West-Tex : I am presently working in that area and was out and about a couple of weeks ago and ate at the Whiskey Cake Kitchen next door to IN-n-Out. It must've been opening week - there were cops directing traffic with cars winding about a mile down the road waiting in line. It was crazy.

In & Out is a million times better then Whataburger.

@weddz : Subjective. Whataburger is 2 million times better than In-&-Out. See how that works?

Your taste buds aren't the same as mine. So......in your opinion.... In & Out is a million times better than Whataburger.

I went to the one in New Braunfels. Found it to be rather disappointing.

We ate at In n Out and were disappointed. The fries were inexcusably bad. The burgers were bland.
Anyone who likes them better than Whataburger is not from around here. I'm not a fan of McDonalds, but their fries and fountain drinks are the best.
As someone else said, the service and cleanliness were excellent, but for all the hype about In n Out, we expected better.

It's funny....people always tell me I only like In-N-Out so much because I'm from California. Well, true, I am (originally), but I am from Northern California, and I left before they even starting expanding to Northern California. I've actually been around Whataburger a lot longer than In-N-Outs, but totally prefer In-N-Out over EVERY other burger chain, so I really wouldn't say that I am biased. I didn't even try an In-N-Out until I was about 15 and visiting my sister at her college in Long Beach, and it was love at first bite. Everyone has their different tastes, and that's why there are dozens of burger places. However, the long lines at pretty much every In-N-Out that exists speaks volumes.

For the record, I think Shake Shack is pretty good too, and I find their burgers similar to In-N-Outs, but they are more than double the price.

@Littlegoo :

I understand what you're saying and the comments you must endure in regards to your California roots on several fronts. However last I checked California is still part of the United States. So if you think In-N-Out burger is one of, or the best you've had that's okay. We all tend to gravitate to the familiar. Especially in regards to our taste in food.

That said in my opinion the cheese burgers at Pappas BBQ tops them all. But that's just me. Emoticon

I grew up in SoCal and I do not remember them at all, moved to Houston when I was 10 and we never ate at Whataburger.... there was a family owned business off of Kirby and Sunset that had great hamburgers. (walking/bike riding distance from my house) both are ok but I do prefer In & Out for some reason. Fries are usually great if you ask they to cook twice so they are crispy! And the shakes are good.

@carol888 : Since I only go occasionally, I will splurge and go for it all, and that means dipping the fries in the shake. Yes, people stare at me like I'm a goof, but it's so good! And if you ask, they will make you a Neopolitan shake.

Also, if I happen to be doing the Keto diet, I'll get their burger "protein style" which is basically the burger wrapped in a huge leaf of lettuce instead of a bun. Still delicious.

@West-Tex : We have done most of the secret menu (I didn't know it was a secret). Son lives near In N Out in NoCal so that is one of his favorites...
