Sydney beach shooting
Australia has some of the strictest gun laws in the planet.

That didn't stop two anti-semites from perpetrating a terrorist attack. That didn't keep people safe at a beach celebrating a holiday.

Gun laws don't stop evil... they just disarm law-abiding citizens who follow the rules.

But sure, let's keep pretending more paperwork is the solution.

@sandman : Not completely, but Australia still proves it substantially reduces it.

Nice try. Weak.

Gun violence will always happen, it won't go away. I just can't fathom people ignoring facts that lives are saved with sensible control.

This is awful that this has happened.

@sandman : And time again how often do we see our mass shootings with the note 'firearm was purchased legally". The Australian tragedy the same, that horrible person had a firearm license. A law abiding owner.

Yes, law abiding. Until they aren't. The list is miles long here.

Despite this nonsensical tragedy, Australia remains one of the safest places on Earth. A list the USA drops on every time control loosens. Not in feels, but facts.

I don't know why people feel the need to terrorize others. If you don't like a certain group of people…just stay away and leave them alone. Not difficult.

@sandman :
So true I have said many times you can place a gun on a table in the middle of a airport and nothing will happen until someone picks it up.

Australia has some of the strictest gun laws in the planet.   That didn't stop two anti-semites from perpetrating a terrorist attack

@sandman : But how many did it prevent? Good try. But no.
---Nothing like this has happened there in the last 30 years. Yet HERE, it's several times a year.
---5.6 gun murders per 100,00 people in US, while Australia is 0.09 per 100,000.
---Our firearm homicide rate is over 50 times higher here.
Only takes a tiny bit of common sense to know that giving evil people easy access to more guns is a helluva bad idea.

Also, less than 1% of shooting here are stopped by non LEO firearm carriers. They run away, too.

Dallas had a huge open carry rally years ago and someone opened fire nearby. None of the marchers returned fire.

@texas2011 :
I'm fine here with all my guns, loud bikes and living free.

I suggested you move since you're apparently willing to give away your freedoms for a false sense of security… as Aussies have done.
