Good Lord, is it always that bad?
We came back from Cancun last night, landed a bit after 7 pm (our flight was actually a half hour early!) and when we got to the Immigration spot, there were 4 lanes open, out of like 20, and one of them was for crew, and there were probably 700 people there waiting. We stood in line for almost an hour. It smacked of when TSA first started and you'd be waiting for hours.
Is it always like that? If so, I might sign us up for Global Entry, because that was ridunkulous!

Enzo : Is global entry basically contactless now? Just kiosks? 
ParksideRes : I didn't think of that. It occurred while we were away, and whilst I was aware, it was just viscerally so. We were trying really hard to just relax.
Yes, that's a bit of an oxymoron.
