Does anyone have their tv hooked up to just an antenna? If so how many channels and what types do you get?

deed restrictions don't allow antennas, so ours was in the attic. we had the largest antenna that Radio Shack sold at that time. it had to be assembled in the attic. too big to fit through the opening. channels available were local abc, nbc, cbs and the uhf channels. reception was terrible. lots of snow and ghost images. most transmitting towers are in Fort Bend county and the tall buildings in downtown Houston interfere with the signals. I would never do that again

We have our antenna in the attic, although I read an FCC regulation that states HOAs can no longer restrict outdoor antenna mounts. I can't remember the details, but I'm sure you can Google it. We get good reception, except NBC will be weak infrequently. We get CBC, NBC, ABC, two PBS, FOX, CW, several old movie stations, three stations that play old reruns from 1950-1980 like Bonanza, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Gunsmoke, Rawhide, Leave It to Beaver, Magnum P.I., Rockford Files, Burns and Allen. There aren't any dedicated sports stations, but there are about 40 Spanish stations, a couple of Asian stations and one Nigerian station. We are happy with it. There's always something to watch, but I am a nerd and I do like the old shows. Download a TV guide app and set it up to show you the over the air stations and you will be able to see all of the shows.

@Sammee:

Yes, I googled the FCC regulations and it appears to me that the HOA cannot restrict their use.

I wouldn't think that many people would want one. Most of us are rather spoiled to our 600-800 channels of the same old, same old.

Well I see that truck running around cutting water off all the time. My next-door-neighbors have theirs cut off several times a year, but it seems like they get it right back on so maybe they are just forgetful bill payers.

Hi everyone,
I have had an $11.00 radio shack antenna since 2010. I get 56 channels and am never at a loss for something to watch. I also dumped my internet recently and just got a hot spot. I control that by only turning it on if I use my laptop.
cable $350.00 monthly
antenna one time charge $11
Internet service $65.00 monthly
hot spot 10 gs $ 20 / $15 overage.
century link was slow, my hot spot is super fast.
oh and my antenna is no bigger than rabbit ears that sit on a shelf.

I was in Atasca Woods then moved over by 494 and Kingwood dr. I'm in the trees and don't really have any issues. One of the best decisions as far as saving money and not buying into the keeping up with the Jone's. We've been downsizing for a few years. Looking for a house to rent now. Riding ourselves of excess of all kinds is freeing.
