Same here. I've been working in education for 30 years here at humble ISD and I've seen it all go downhill thanks to Abbott and the Republican legislature who didn't see education as a priority. We are now 41st in the nation. PATHETIC! So many good teachers have quit over past few years. And it's ridiculous that you have such little money that you have to hang advertisement signs on the fences of your schools and on the sides of your buses. What an embarrassment. Teachers are some of the lowest paid in the country and the pension is ridiculous. Gina's win is a win for both our students and our teachers.

What happened to all that lotto money? Where did it go? Wasn't it suppose to go to the schools?

Atascocita888 : It's all political smoke and mirrors. When a new funding source is identified, ie; lotto, and it is marketed to support education then the same amount that lotto was to bring in is redirected out the back end so the amount of money stays the same. I saw this with State Parks. The vehicle license plate that funds go to State Parks was to raise XX amount of money. What was not told is that the parks budget was reduced the amount it was estimated the plates would bring in….

People don't realize how different schools/education all-together is completely different from when they went to school.....Billions spent on high stakes testing was epic failure.
I refuse to be a cynic and say things won't change. The new governor is already at work to build up our public education in Texas which USED to be good when most of us went to school. It is THE most important government entity imo.
We finally have a mom at the job. They get things done!!
