HUMBLE, Texas - A Houston-area man was arrested after detectives found what they say are thousands of images of AI-generated child pornography at his home, Harris County Constable Precinct One Alan Rosen announced Monday.

Alexander Bigelow, 29, has been charged in an ongoing investigation by Constable Precinct One's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.

Bigelow faces three second-degree felonies of possession of computer-generated pornography of children under ten years of age. Each of those charges carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison and fine of up to $10,000.

He is also charged with a state-jail felony of invasive visual recording of a bathroom or changing room, for using a camera disguised as a charger to covertly record a bedroom other than his own, according to court records. That charge carries a penalty of up to two years in jail.

Detectives searching Bigelow's residence in Humble said they found a computer and a hard drive each containing thousands of AI-generated images of child pornography, according to a court record.

Constable Rosen asks that anyone with tips about the defendant to contact Constable Precinct One's Internet Crimes Against Children Unit at 713-222-4929.

Disturbing for sure. That said, ironically my daughter and I were discussing this very thing one day. Cases where pedophiles use AI generated porn. Because his attorney is surely going to argue that since said children are not real, he can't be prosecuted. As AI becomes more prevalent, we're going to see more of these type cases.

Further, what happens when humanoids are manufactured, which is surely coming, for people's sexual gratification? No matter their particular peccadillos. We don't have laws on the books to address the AI tsunami that's coming regarding things like this. But the one central question will remain. If they're not human, has anyone been harmed?

I was wondering the same thing, obviously not condoning the activity but playing devil's advocate. The penalties for child related sex crimes logically are heavily weighted by the trauma and tragedy experienced by the victims. If the child does not exist, should the penalty still be equal? Not a decision I would like to make, but the AI images are surely the lesser of two evils.

West-Tex : I had originally read he was from Humble. What's even more scary is his last name looks familiar. 😭

West-Tex : The people need to know! How was he arrested by Pct. 1? It's a bit confusing; did he frequent that area, but lived here?

Floyd : If it didn't weigh so heavily on the trauma... possessing images should be equally harmful, IMO.

eighteen :
The fly in the ointment is the images are not real. So, in that regard, it can be argued no person was harmed. Unless you're saying merely possessing this stuff is harmful to society in and of itself. Which definitely has merit. But from a legal point of view, it's a minefield.

rocket1 : Yep, I think being in possession of said images should hold the same punishable value of physically harming a child.

This is surely something our legislatures will have to grapple with. Sooner rather than later.
