Personal wireless devices will no longer be allowed in Texas sch

Going to be up to the individual districts on how this is going to be implemented.

tflea : As long as the district has a no tolerance policy after a few are taken word will get out. Of course some will keep trying…

I can understand the issue with distractions and all, but I can see a situation where there's a tragedy at a school like another mass shooting where kid's phones were banned and parents of the victims end up suing the school on grounds that help could have arrived sooner if kids could have only called 911/etc....And I can easily see Juries/Judges awarding millions of dollars to those families for that reason....Bad part about that situation, other than the deaths, is all that tax money WASTED paying the "settlements" and most likely additional taxes needing to be raised to cover what those taxes would have originally paid for or having to scrap projects they would have covered altogether....

EddyFree : Nope, every classroom has a phone.And as stated before, they are not banned from the school. They are banned from being used. Inappropriately. No one's going to stop a kid from calling 911 at an emergency.

The kids will just all show up on the first day and decide they're going to ignore the rule. No way they can collect thousands of phones or give thousands of people detention. They shouldn't be allowed to have them during instructional time, but if a kid wants to put airpods in to do their work or during lunch, what's the point in stopping them? I can see saying if you're recording a fight or people against their will you get in trouble but what's wrong with surfing the internet after your work is done?

Pinehurst : This is how it started. And then it grew into what it is because of the parents themselves. Now they actually have teeth to fight back against the ridiculousness.

EddyFree : I am sure in an extrememe situation such as this, the powesr that be would allow them to use phones to contacts parents/guardians.

susanbanthony : When my kids were in school and first got phones. . . they were told by myself and admin to not let the phone be seen. My son got his phone taken up when he broke the rule. I had to pay $25 to get it back. Then.....guess who got to pay mama back?! LOL~!
