I'm working from the house today and some woman just knocked on my front door with a clipboard in her hand. I stepped up to the door and pointed to my no solicitation sign and she mouthed something; couldn't hear a word. I know full well that you can speak and I can hear through my door because my kids come over and do it all the time. She was trying to get me to open my door I have no doubt. I said very loudly I did not open the door to strangers thank you.
I'm adding this note as this original post seemed to cause some confusion. My door is lead glass. I can clearly see you and vice versa. If you actually speak words, those can also be heard. As stated above, the woman mouthed. In other words, she did not speak, therefore, I had no reason to open the door to her. She held a clipboard which was exactly like the two prior people that came to our home selling magazines. yes, I made the assumption that she was selling something. Doesn't make me an ***. doesn't make me paranoid. Yes, I am cautious. There was a precious couple in Kings River, just down the street; who apparently opened their door last year, only to be murdered in their home. Crime still unsolved. So yes, I will err on the side of caution. Every time.
