What does all that mean?

#msg2211807What does all that mean?

cheryltom : Scripts indicating malicious cyber bot attacks on the software here. It's pretty crucial to keep up with/swat them because some can capture and keep track of your keystrokes which, in turn, can cause all kinds of other more serious hacking issues, including gaining your private info. (in more sophisticated attempts, think banking or retirement funds) and even overtaking the integrity of your device.

If you ever see an error message when logging in or in the middle of browsing, playing a game, etc. with a server message, that's probably Joe's software catching and killing them as they come. Otherwise, it can quickly get out of control.

Are you hiring, Joe ? 😂

cheryltom : Basically, there was a fundamental hack of PHP, a programming language that powers something like 65% of all websites, that would give hackers full admin access to websites. It was apparently discovered by AI, and as soon as it was leaked, millions of admins rushed around to find patches as quickly as possible. Some big players apparently got hacked as a result.

Joe : Have you been following this other crazy stuff about using AI-driven password storage ( when YOU, not your financial institution, allow your device to "save" your passwords on frequented sites to make logging in more convenient without having to remember them - "Save password to phone?")? That is some scary schnit! Do you know if that's also a risk with creating passkeys?

I suppose theoretically, AI has the ability (or will soon) to wipe us all clean in terms of financial ruin. That is NO joke if that's possible! 👀

brightlights :
I use a password manager...it's safer overall than trying to memorize your passwords. The manager will create passwords for me that are long and complicated, so they can't be easily hacked, ex: "jtktkvcc382!@3ttan@1"...the data is highly encrypted, so even if the password manager is hacked, you can't access my passwords...but keystroke loggers or something similar could theoretically get access, which would be bad.

I have 746 passwords in there now...so, not really viable to memorize them all. Plus...a keystroke logger will get your passwords anyway...

#msg2211817I use a password manager

Joe : I was referring to the average Joe (🤭) with the average device (thereby not requiring nearly as many passwords as admins, i.e.). I use it on almost all of my accounts.

This is, imo, something to really keep your eyes peeled on.
