augustine4201 : I completely disagree. I would not classify the HOA's out here in the Atascocita area as "wealthy". I think the Commissioners need to be careful or they are going to kill the gravy train the Constable program has been given over the years from the HOA's paying them. If a Constable is puttering around driving through several HOA's who pay the one Constable guy to "guard" them and make them feel "safe" which in itself is stupid they are in the area when a call comes in from that area that is not being paid by a contract. So that Constable heads over (his 30%) and takes care of that call. Most likely way more dangerous cause the HOA he drives to is not in the program cause they don't want to spend what little money they have for that. The HOA most likely has poorer people who live there and have a pit bull. What actually is going on is HOA's that are willing to pay for these contracts are helping those poor community's that surround them.
Atascocita888 : I haven't seen any constables down my street in a long time but then nothing hadn't happen. When my husband was alive he had a good relationship with them and I would certainly call them if I saw something bad.
It will be interesting to see how the apartment homes across stays good or bad. I have dogs that hear everything. I would like to know where everyone thinks the area around is bad.
The Harris County Contract Program is a sham. It protects wealthy neighborhoods while neglecting poor neighborhoods. It creates needless ticket writing in the wealthy neighborhoods causing harm to persons driving through these wealthy neighborhoods and does little or nothing to crime prevention. This is county welfare for the affluent areas of Houston.

Smokeybear : Yes, That is correct. But some just don't get it. If the HOA's did not hire these deputies to be in their subdivisions that would be one less deputy that would have a job. Why? Cause the HOA PAYS 70% of that deputies check.

augustine4201 : I water my grass whenever I have time maybe mornings or evening and it looks pretty dang good since I am home now and usually do it every day. I don't flood it but give it a good drink when I am bored. This reminds me I need to mow because of this!
