Should people be allowed

Why not, they can do that in Congress and not be able to make legal decisions for themselves but make them for us.

@BuckWild : Well, there's an entitled PCT. 3 Deputy in the news. He's been on the force for 50yrs. I think he should've been made to retire after no more than 35yrs.

@eighteen : This is a high stress and demanding job. Normally, officers are ready to retire way before 50 years of active service. Like I said, normally. I would say they should be smart enough to know their physical and mental limits. So I will repeat my original answer. As long as they are physically and mentally capable. They should be required to pass testing.

@Catmae : Sounds like an excuse. That still doesn't give them the right to violate another person's 4A rights. That tells me he's not mentally fit for the job.

Also, the people were being served an eviction notice for being a month late, SMH.

As a retiree of the profession, I say absolutely not! For a number of practical reasons. For example, if you're still on the "streets", your mental acuity and physical skills have declined over the years. Thus the reaction time has slowed if ever so slightly. But that could mean the difference between life and death given the situation.Now, if you've moved to management. You're not likely having to deal with the same set of circumstances. However, I still think there needs to be a mandatory retirement age. By the way, the 57 rule primarily applies to select federal law enforcement positions. Along with perhaps some state level jobs. Many local departments across the country don't have a mandatory retirement age.
