Maxsmom : To me this place was more like a memorabilia store and items are more of a specialty class and would work if not for the shoplifting. #msg2173151

@Wanderer : I think it was really too big. There was a lot of things that were interesting and I would buy unusual gifts there but as far as going all the time there no I didn't go all the time . But I didn't realize shoplifting was so bad there.

@Maxsmom : I kind of wondered about shoplifting when I was there. I could see how it would be easy. I really liked supporting the local vendors. I figured that a lot of them were moms to littles or retirees trying to supplement their income. Now my Atascocita buddy and I will have to find a new place to shop. I'm not worried. She's big on shopping. She already has a contingency plan. smile.

@lynnsgirl : I won't donate or buy from Goodwill. I've read that it is owned by an individual who is making bank off of Goodwill. Think about it. What exactly does Goodwill do for the community? Have you ever heard of anything that they do?

UPDATE as of Today, Apr 16th:
Painted Tree vendors / store owners are currently locked out of the building, despite it still being 70-80% full of merchandise. The manager showed up and found the locks had been changed, likely by the landlord.

UPDATE #2:
This is from a post within the Kingwood Vendor Painted Tree FB group: My husband owns the remodeling store next to Painted Tree. We also had a booth for our little girl in Painted Tree. My husband talked to the Landlord. For liability reasons, the landlord locked the doors. His plan is to get security for the space. They will let vendors in that have been verified. He is trying to get in touch with someone at Painted Tree that could give him a list of the vendors. The landlord said he has no intention of keeping or discarding the vendors' property....he just needs everyone to pick them up ASAP. That's all we know so far.

@lynnsgirl : We have a St. Vincent de Paul society store near our home. I bring my stuff there. That said, I'm frugal so I use most of my stuff until no one would want it so I don't donate a lot. But I definitely donate some stuff. St. Vincent operates homeless shelters, soup kitchens, etc. They do a lot of good. They also donate some clothes to homeless people. Very little that is donated is wasted.
