Painted tree closing

well. Now posting they have already closed and open a week to vendors to pick up their belongings?

In todays economy I ask myself how can MOM and POPS even survive?

@walkchalk1 : Sad to see a good size area go vacant. I shopped there a few times and enjoyed. Never really too busy and they had so many shoplifting issues. I wouldn't mind if Steinmart came back myself.

Just sad that people would steal from these boutique owners. They don't make enough to support themselves, without thieves.

@walkchalk1 : Yeah...I drove by there to verify and took a picture myself about 3 hrs ago...signs on the door, only vendors allowed in...

I wondered how it could stay open. It was never busy. I probably went in once a month if that often to buy special gifts for birthdays and there would be no one but me in there. I was just thinking about them the other day that they wouldn't make it to Mother's Day. This is such a shame, but there's just not enough people to support something so big. Wishing all the vendors luck.

Conceptually, I really thought this was a good addition to Kingwood. Artists and craftsman do need a place to sell their work and the periodic festivals are not enough to sustain a livelihood. My DD is an artist considered opening a booth but working full time, she could not be there to always monitor it.

Sad it had to come to this. I often thought about placing my store in there but I kept thinking about thieves.

I came here to see if someone had posted the news. I will miss it. I shopped there almost every time that I was in that direction.

To me this place was more like a memorabilia store and items are more of a specialty class and would work if not for the shoplifting.
