not be able to print anything like that

@ParksideRes : Maybe. But that won't happen either. We can't just outlaw everything that can be used as or to make a weapon. If we do that, we need to ban hammers, screwdrivers, steak knives, baseball bats, etc. Heck, they just broke up a terrorist bombing thing in LA that was using PVC pipes to make bombs. Should we ban PVC pipe?

People who want to kill will find a tool and a way to use it. The only way to stop killing is to make people not want to kill.

Just one thing I thought of. If so many people want guns controlled or eliminated, why do we not have legislation going through to create an amendment to eliminate the Second Amendment? One would think that, since this is the largest hurdle to overcome, we would be working on eliminating the Second Amendment. But no one, not even the far left, AOC crowd, have introduced anything. Bottom line is that they are afraid opposing gun ownership could cost them an election. Because people do not want to give up their freedoms.

We need to start somewhere

@ParksideRes : Yeah. And that argument could have been made to give everyone on the Titanic a bucket and start bailing. It is a start, but, in the long run, won't work. More will come flooding in than can ever be bailed out. Just like booze during Prohibition. All you will stop are the people who want to conform and surrender guns. Very, VERY damn few.

@niceguy : not at all. Where there are more restrictions, there are NOT increases in other homicides from other weapons. That's been debunked above already. It's a classic spin, but completely false.

ParksideRes : So is just passing laws. Laws without a workable implementation plan are just fodder for the campaign trail. Helps people who do not want to actually do anything sleep.at night.

@niceguy : And I had implemention ideas above.

@ParksideRes : I guess I should have said "realistic" plans.

With 300 - 500 million guns in the U.S. and only 1.6 percent of them registered, that means that we have no idea where 290 - 490 million guns are. You have not defined how we find them. No one is going to take their guns to anyplace where their gun may be registered. They will do what we did as kids. Find a farm and, with permission, go out in the fields and shoot all day. Or, like a friend of mine in Houston did, build his own range.

Don't plan on long lines of people volunteering to register their weapons.

Always thought it was weird people would rather watch people die than do something about it.

@niceguy : You are correct. ParksideRes does not want to admit that. He thinks if you remove the right to own a gun there will only be a handful of killings each year. He doesn't watch very many crime shows apparently. Heck, two people just lost their life to a sharp object (knife most likely). I agree that the hearts of people need to change so they do not desire to kill someone. That is not going to happen. So my solution is to make the penalty for killing someone so great it deters most from doing it. I would even go along with a law saying if you take a life using a gun your punishment will be even worse and come quicker than other forms of killing.

@ParksideRes : I have never seen that said.

In America, we value personal freedom's and the right to make your own choices. And require that you live with the results of those choices. Live with the lifestyle you can afford it you choose not to get education or training. And live with the consequences of allowing people to own and possess guns. People will die.

The one thing I see a lot from liberals is that they feel that a perfect world, a world where everyone gets along and nothing bad happens, is achievable. But, I do not believe that we all can agree about what a perfect world is. We believe that each person is responsible for creating their own perfect world. And we give people as many rights as possible to try to achieve this. And, to some people, having an arsenal of guns is their opinion of what a perfect world looks like. If you don't agree with this, fine. Don't buy any guns. But do not impose your beliefs on someone else. They don't force you to own a gun. Don't force them not to.

Can guns kill others? Yes. Of course. With 500 million guns in this country, the percentage of guns used to kill people in a year is so small that it is almost incalculable. Which means that number of guns used properly is about 99.9999 percent. We cannot get into a system of banning things based upon what they MIGHT be used for. Personal freedom's rule America.

Sydney beach shooting Australia has some of the strictest gun laws in the planet. That didn't stop two anti-semites from perpetrating a terrorist attack. That didn't keep people safe at a beach celebrating a holiday. Gun laws don't stop evil... they just disarm law-abiding citizens who follow the rules. But sure, let's keep pretending more paperwork is the solution.

@sandman : no gun laws don't work. New York, California has some of the strictest gun laws and yet they have the most violence from guns. Gun laws take the guns from the good people and leave the bad people with guns.

@niceguy : Yes, cultivate an environment for the uneducated and violent to reign supreme over those that just want to live in peace. Thoughts and prayers.

Sounds like the American dream.

Anyone deriding sensible solutions has something to hide.

@ParksideRes : We are not cultivating anything. Just allowing people to enjoy their personal liberties and freedoms, as envisioned by the Framers. And yes, it is the American dream for 250 years.
