@susanbanthony : Too close for comfort! I have been in my home in Kingwood for nearly 24 years...never flooded. I am up on a hill which....I curse when I cut grass but....give thanks when the water begins to rise.

We're in a raised up section of Walden Olympic Village. They flood in the area by Lake Houston which is two blocks from our house.

This was just local charges brought on the developer. Nothing was mentioned about section 404 of the Clean Water Act, filling wetlands, which are Federal charges. The fines will be enormous which means we will probably never see the developer again…

@CarolS: DH has always quoted Phillip of Macedonia, "Seize the high ground!" We have always followed that rule when buying a home.
