Police: Parents arrested after 15 kids found living in 'deplorable conditions' in Georgia

MARIETTA, Ga. - Three adults were charged with child cruelty crimes after police in Georgia said more than a dozen children were found inside a home during a welfare check, living in "deplorable conditions."
Police said the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services requested assistance while visiting an apartment in Marietta, Georgia, to conduct a welfare check after being notified that two kids were living there. Detectives began working to obtain a search warrant after police said attempts to contact an adult were unsuccessful. As they processed the warrant, police said 15 children, ages 1 to 17, came out of the two-bedroom apartment. Childrens services staff relocated them to safe environments. Three hours later, the three adults arrived at the apartment: 40-year-old Ashley Jackson, 41-year-old Derrick Jackson and 36-year-old Briana Reynolds.
Police said all three claimed to be the biological parents of the 15 kids. They were taken to police headquarters for further questioning. Detectives secured the search warrant and entered the apartment, which they described as being in "deplorable conditions" for living. According to the warrants, the children were deprived of necessary sustenance and hygienic capabilities, jeopardizing their health and well-being. Documents indicate there were no recent signs of toilet paper in the apartment. Warrants also state that there was not enough food to support and nourish the children, and that there were only 9 beds for the 18 people living in the apartment. Additionally, the warrants state that a blanket with visible mold spots growing was seen hanging in one of the bedrooms, and 3.5 grams of marijuana was found on the desk in one of the bedrooms. The adults were each charged with first-degree cruelty to children, second-degree cruelty to children, and possession of marijuana. Derrick Jackson was also charged with crossing the guard line. According to the warrants, he entered the jail with marijuana hidden in his rectum. www.khou.com/article /news/nation-world/1 5-children-found-dep lorable-conditi Can you imagine how many more of these situations are out there!! 🤬
