I have lived here forever long when Pinehurst started and I have not had a snake in my toilet. Back then when I still had a husband I would have directed him to the toilet and now he is gone I have to go look!!! I back from that dang water feature they put for the poop to help something. Did I mention I HATE snakes!!!!!!!!!

@ladybeachbum : I hate them too!!

One morning, when I was getting ready to go to work, I walked into the kitchen, and there was a snake right in the middle of the floor! DH had already gone to work, so I was on my own. Cindy-Lou was already in her crate (she stayed in there when we were gone), so I wasn't about to leave her alone in the house with a snake crawling around. I had to get a broom and kill it myself. I was so freaked out, though. Just crazy. DH couldn't believe one had gotten into the house. (This was over in Pinehurst)

A woman found a ball python in her toilet. Now she has answers on how it got there.

ORANGEVALE, California - The mystery of how a ball python ended up in an Orangevale woman's toilet appears to have been solved.

Alyssa Harmon discovered the roughly 3-foot long snake in her toilet Tuesday after work while a coworker was helping her install a portable window air conditioner. When he asked to use the bathroom, he yelled that there was a snake in the toilet.

"I did not believe him," Harmon said told ABC10. "I thought he was making some sort of crazy guy joke."

She lifted the toilet lid and initially thought the snake might be a rattlesnake because of its coloring. After taking a closer look and taking a photo to verify what she was seeing, she realized it was a ball python.

She and her coworker used a small bucket to remove it from the toilet.

Harmon decided to temporarily keep the snake while she looked for its owner or another home. She said the snake appeared healthy, seemed to have eaten recently and became friendly after it had time to settle down.

"It's clearly been handled and was someone's pet at one point," she said.

That turned out to be exactly the case.

On Thursday, after seeing the story on an ABC10 newscast, Kim Fitzback called the station because she recognized the snake.

Fitzback told Harmon that tenants living on her property, less than 10 houses away from Harmon's, lost their 3-year-old pet ball python several months ago while moving to Montana.

Fitzback said the county later came out to investigate a clog in the main sewer line. Plumbers scoped the line and were able to see the snake slithering into the main sewer line, but they were unable to catch it.

The tenants eventually believed that the snake had died.

Instead, it appears the python survived and made its way into Harmon's toilet. She said this explains the mystery she had been trying to solve since Tuesday. She previously suspected the snake might have entered through the plumbing system or roof vent.

Harmon said she might now keep the snake and is considering naming it Finn. She has a boxer dog named Huckleberry.

"Clearly, it's a survivor, and I have a new pet," Harmon said.

@SarcasmWins : Growing up, our family had a weekend home on the Trinity River. For a long time, all we had was an outhouse. I hated that thing. Luckily, as little girls, my parents had a potty bucket (chamber pot) for us girls to use at night. They would then get rid of the contents. That outhouse was always loaded with Granddaddy Longlegs spiders. Never saw a snake in there, but sometimes they would get in the cabin, because we were right on the river.
