Has anyone here emptied their pool and clean it and fill it again? I have almost down to about 3-4 feet and want to go all and paint it will pool paint and fill it after it is dry. The pool is rectangler and some tile I want to take off at the tile and replace. I have heard stories of the pool popping up.

I just had my pool replastered...it was without water during the process for a few days and was fine. But I don't know if they had anything special in place to keep it from popping out...didn't look like they did.

@Luckysis :
I probably I should see about letting someone do it but it seems like something I can do. I need to take more water out so I can see what lower looks like. I need to check the beach homes so maybe put off it a few days.

Be careful. I saw that happen to a neighbors pool, probably about 15 years ago. The pool company drained the water, and the deep end popped out of the ground. It was like that for a long time, I don't know what the final outcome was. It was not one of my direct neighbors, but around the corner and down the street a bit. I could see it every day as I drove to work.

I am a bit scared but I am hoping to drain as I need it gone. I honestly have no idea except what I have heard. I might get chicken and see how much it with a company that knows what they are doing.

I've drained mine many times without a problem but I've heard of pools popping out of the ground when the ground is saturated.
Good luck!

My another website neighbors drained their pool in hopes of immediately refilling it with fresh water. It popped up and broke the pipes. Had to get a whole new pool.
@Sammee : That is my fear. Mine is old. I wonder if I putsi some heavy things on the bottom while doing the sides. I bet if it will pop up with me it would with a pool company.
@ladybeachbum :
don't do it... saving a few hundred bucks while risking thousands is not a good idea

I would let a professional do it! Sorry, because that costs thousands. We had ours done about 7 years ago. I picked little tiles. It was a bad mistake. Make sure you ask for the left over tiles!

If you really have to do it, get a professional and do it QUICKLY! They can and will pop. I have heard you have less than 7 days to drain, clean and refill.
