I always had a standing order that if the H‑E‑B had green tomatoes we were having FGT's for dinner that night. One of the wife's favorites. She wanted them with a tempura batter though….

I did fried eggplant and fried squash, and yes, that's tomato sauce from Louisiana tomatoes that I picked up last week.

The potato patch on 1960 made really good fried green tomatoes. I'm allergic to tomatoes, but I could eat them. I don't know if it was because it was green or because it was fried but they were so good.

@ginx: They look delightful! I, too, love fried green tomatoes! Is there a particular varietal that is better than others for taste and texture? I've never made any at home since I never see the green ones in stores.

@Weathergirl5 : no they closed up. Did they move? Do they have another location because I sure would go there.
