Sequoia and redwood trees alive today were already mature when t

I dont know why, but I never thought about sequoia trees being ones that folks would plant. My son just put several in his yard. I'm sure someone will have to remove them in 20-30 years. But I imagine anyone with enough property to support them could have some magnificent trees in short time.

So they know where we're headed....

If I could have bought my house new and been able to pick the trees that were planted in the backyard, I'd have chosen at least one Pecan tree.....

I've got 6 pecan trees. I wish the squirrels would leave me a couple. They strip every one of them while they are still green. Take a bite and drop it to the ground. If they would let them ripen I would gladly share.

@Smokeybear : yep, I bought a pellet gun for that very reason.

@redneckroy : Not all sequoias are the huge ones. Some are pretty normal size

@redneckroy : never mind, the only living species of true sequoias are massive.

@Smokeybear :Can you put barriers on the trees or are there other trees within "jumping distance" that aren't yours and would provide access anyway?....

I have Oaks, Pines, Magnolias plus the Pecans. 15 trees in all. It's a super hi-way 30 feet above my yard…

In the Caribbean, they wrap a strip of sheet metal @ 2 ft tall around the trunks of trees to keep iguanas from climbing. Would probably work for squirrels if not for adjacent trees
