Yesterday we were at HEB. We got there just as a group of 5 or 6 boys were securing their electric motorcycles in the cart area. As we left, one of the bigger boys started riding his bike through the store. The rest of the group were ripping and running those bikes back and forth between the entry doors as we were leaving the parking lot.

I'm all for kids having fun and those electric bikes look like a lot of fun, but come on. Running them through heavy pedestrian traffic, like grocery stores and playgrounds is disrespectful.

I was stopped at the light in front of AMS the other day right before school. Several kids came puttering across the street on those electric bikes. Do kids not know how to pedal anymore?

@MrsT : There's a noticeable difference between kids who still pedal and those who have e-bikes. That's all I'll say on that. We have opted to continue on pedal bikes.

Hopefully the interest in this fad will eventually fade. Either that, or pediatricians will start advising parents of the potential health conditions caused by lack of exercise.

I don't follow too many people online but there is a pediatric ER doctor on fb that pops up in my feed a lot. They're number one on her things not to get your kids due to how many accident patients she's seen.

@Catmae : Yes, when the car convo starts, I'll bring up E-bikes, but who knows what the thing to have will be by then. 😂
