It seems like the World Series isn't what it used to be, there didn't seem like there was much fanfare, but then again, look at where we are. I know for a fact there was a lot of fanfare in San Francisco. It seemed like half of my friends on FB were going to the games.

But honestly, I couldn't remember who was even in it last year...I had to look it up and couldn't even remember who won!

Sandman, I too am not a fan of the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality. I started playing softball when I was about 12. There were about 8 teams, and only the top 3 would get a trophy. My first year, I sucked, but I was on a good team, and got a trophy. There were many years where I was on an awful team and we didn't get trophies - that's life, you can't win all of the time. I eventually got pretty good, and there were years where I was on the winning team, and having had to deal with the losses, it makes the victory that much better.

@Littlegoo:

I sent my SIL & nephew (living in Mass.) a St. Louis Cards gift bag last year - and in return they sent me a red sox championship shirt - all in good fun.

One of my neighbors is a Royals fan (which I hadn't heard of until World Series time oddly enough!) so I was thinking of printing out some SF Giants logos and wrapping them around some Hershey bars and putting them in her kid's pumpkins tonight..... all in good fun!

I can not sit someplace and watch, I gotta be at the game. Or the horse track.

@daisy girl:

Oh, my dear, you have my attention. Breeders Cup starts tomorrow.

@Clydepuckett:

I love horse racing too... not much into the betting part, but love watching the races!

@daisy girl
Are you still pretending you believe everything I said about sports, winning/losing, etc. or are you starting to believe it's true?

@sandman:

lol I used to live above a bar with off track betting. Those old Italian men would see me comin and say the witch is at the ticket counter. She's betting in a name again. Someone go see who she's bettin on.

Worse bet Kentucky Derby a few years ago. Remember I don't bet big.
I was taking my mother in law and Sam Houston has a great buffet. Well one of my dogs died, didn't want to leave the other one just days later so off went my Dh MIL and I bought a ticket for her friend.
I had my dh making my $2 bets on the days races. Then against all odds and the one long shot they said would most likely get scratched, I told dh $20 on Mind That Bird. ( I just got a Quaker parrot). Well it was loud and he put 2 bucks down (cheap fer lol). Well you guessed it 40-1 odds. I was doing a happy dance and calling my kid in vegas saying hahaha you told me it was a stupid bet. Imagine my surprise when my dh handed me 100 and change. I said where's my money on the 20? Ugh you said 2. NO TWO ZERO. Lol

I think tennis is the most boring sport.
I love a good fight when a Hockey game breaks out. And a really good boxing match.
