We are going to KY for Thanksgiving. I'm excited to see my step grandson but I'm not too excited to cook in somebody else's kitchen without my numerous pots and pans, gadgets and HEB Emoticon

Baked here.....Although the last couple years we've ditched Turkey for something else on Thanksgiving(we did buy the Turkeys while the prices were good but cooked them in the middle of Summer....Which was, surprisingly, a really nice shuffle!)...

Tried the fried approach before, wasn't impressed at all....Loading Image...

Hmmm........Now that I'm thinking about it....Never tried one on the PIT yet....Might have to quarter it or something to speed the cooking a bit, but I bet it would be good!....Loading Image...........You've inspired me!!!...Will do it before the 1st of the year and see how it comes out...

@EddyFree:

You don't need to cut it up...better whole. Keep it under 12 pounds and do a brine.

I have always been a fan of La Boucherie. Been buying their Turduckens for years. Do you sell stuffed seasoned turkeys?
@ blue eyes
Yes, I have stuffed and seasoned turkey, come in and give us your order. You can pick up your ready to cook turkey as late as Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
See my web site, www.veronsmeatmarket.com under seasonal items for other items for the holiday

Do you prefer a fried turkey or the traditional baked bird?

@Verons Meat Market:

Hi Vernon's, I need to come see you with my ADC winnings.

I must say no turkey for me. Lol when you raise em you don't eat em in my case.

I've been told you have the best stuffed chops so that's a definite for my family.
Do you carry grass fed beef? 100% ground sirloin with no filler?
Do you stuff your own sausage and if so what kind of skin?
Do you have any organic chickens?
Can I buy your scraps for soups and stews?
Do you have a website?
I'll be bringing my coolers lol. I recently moved but still shop on the area.

Fried is the only way to cook a turkey. If you don't care for it then it wasn't done properly. Verons does have one of the best fried turkey's. Already cooked just go home and eat.

I am so happy my daughter is going to be home for Thanksgiving that I don't really care if we're sharing a fried turkey banquet or a can of tuna. That's what Thanksgiving is all about.

Dude, the memories you brought back with that almost made me cry. Me and DW would be wetting our drawers at IAH picking up our youngest from his flight home.....airport traffic at Thanksgiving was an afterthought. Didn't matter, didn't care....our West Point cadet was home!

And then, after a warm reunion, he was out the door to be with his HS friends. And I was cool with that...still seemed like he was home.

So, moral of the story, enjoy every moment.....but be prepared for her agenda. Your mileage may vary of course.

Thanks for the ride on Marty McFly's Delorean.......I'm jealous.....good times.

And now, to keep this thread on subject......fried all the way baby. Smoked as a second choice if I can't find or afford the peanut oil. Ovens are for dessert.

Verons rocks. Good food, good folks.

Ronnie, is Sam gonna make it home for the holidays? Hope so. You guys enjoy it.

That's awesome! I know you will be counting down the days! It's such a beautiful thing when families have so much Emoticon for each other!
