We love camping at Bastrop State Park & Big Bend. We tent camp.
Enchanted Rock State Natural Area is also nice, if you like to hike.

Love this thread. Lets keep it bumped. My goal is to hit every one and more. I also have a Texas State Park Booklet. I believe I picked it up at Brozos Bend. They have great campsites and not expensive. Some with water and electric. They also have screened cabins for about $25 a night. I love walking the trail and seeing gators on both sides of me. Not sure if I would walk my dog though. They have an observation deck three stories high and you can see forever. Sunset you get the greatest photos off the water.
y'all got me old bones itching to get back out there.

Any bird sitters here?

I just climbed Erock. It was a lot harder than it was 7-8 years ago.

We haven't tent camped in a while but still camp really like most of the places mentioned. The state parks are great. We have been to Livingston so many times I can't count. Brazos bend a few. Love taking pics of the gators there. Wolf creek is pretty nice too. I also love being by the water.

You'd be hard pressed to name a state park in Texas that I haven't been to, or Arkansas and some of Oklahoma. Most of the National Parks across the country. I grew up camping every chance we could with a family of 7! Our first trip was camped inside of our station wagon and went all through Colorado like that. My dad slept in the front seat, My Mom and two sisters slept on the fold down bench seats in the back on an air mattress. My youngest sister and I slept on a little bench he had built up over the end of the bench seat fold down area. My mom had curtains made that went around the inside of the car for privacy. In the mornings my dad would get up and start a fire, then mom would start getting us dressed inside the car, braiding hair and doing up pony's. People camped around us in actual tents and such got quite a kick out of doing the head count as 5 little girls came out of the car and finally my mom!

Since then I've camped in every type of tent and trailer they make. Nowadays at my age I roll out in a big *** RV with all the comforts of home.

I think though that nothing is better than cooking and eating breakfast outside in the woods. Just the simple stuff is still the best stuff!

We dumped the house and luxury apartment to sock money away for an rv. Dh is 57, me 54 and I want to slow things down. Trying to get rid of non essential and the big stuff. My goal is to find a nice small one bedroom, loft or studio for home base and hit the road.
Problem is no one wants big anymore lol. So slowly but surely I will get it done. I am looking at a nice used C class I can drive. New was about $65 grand used $25. I will go gently used for the first one. Mistakes will hurt but not as bad if I screwed up in a new one.
Any recommendations?
