>> This is real and it is here!

And...... Some still want to leave or borders open????? WTH

Seriuosly!!!

@lynnsgirl:

This guy came through the proper channels and flew here. Are you suggesting closing all forms of international travel over this? This isn't just flights and roads. You would also have to deny all shipping and rail access to the US. I'm not an economist but I would have to bet that doing that would not be good for the economy.

I am sure we can be doing a better job of screening folks coming here but isolation definitely isn't the answer.

@daddyo9:

With much respect to you I'm not an economist; however, I put economy in one hand and death in the other there is no room for question.

If we die who gives a crap about the economy?

>> Makes you wonder if he didn't hurry over here to be taken care of in the US knowing that he would most likely get much better care here . Are maybe he wanted to spread it . I mean really if what I am reading here is correct he was around 5 children that went to 4 different schools . Is this person this stupid ? He had to be seeing death all around him . Read HumbleGirls post just above .

@bbk:

More than likely he didn't start exhibiting symptoms until he was already here in the United States, so he probably didn't know he had it. And most people judge whether they're sick or not on how they "feel." He probably felt as fine as you (hopefully you are doing well this evening) and I are feeling now. If someone came up to you and told you that you had Ebola you might just laugh.

Sure enough, he should have gotten himself tested the minute he stepped back into the country, but then again, our government has known for a while now the situation going on in those parts of Africa....one glance at his passport, and he would have gone in for testing, per order of good ol' Uncle Sam.

Hopefully now, as rocket posted, any day now there'll be some new drug breaking out onto the market to help stop this disease from spreading. It wasn't profitable when it was just the lives of poor Africans, but now that the American public has fear rising, whatever funding they didn't have I'm sure they now have to get something out there and quick. That's one thing I learned since going for my major in the health field. Money talks. Sad thing to say, the best thing to happen for a poor culture in other countries that want a cure for a disease is for an American or a few to contract it. Things get to moving then.

@nikkiole:
Sad but true. As for him coming after helping his friend, it's suspicious. Any person would know not to go near a diseased body or go into the home. Hell I don't go to people's homes if their kids have a cold. It's plausible he got scared when the people around him started falling like flies. Rush to family in the U.S. for help. Question is, did his family know what happened earlier and still allow him to come?
I do know that the powers that be are sheltered from all of this and the general public. Those people have already been inoculated I am sure.
Funny thing is just two nights ago while watching CSI New Orleans they were tracking bubonic plaque ( sorry if spelled wrong). Turns out the dr who found the cure planted it in a navy sub. Holding out for more money and fame fir the cure. We live in a sick world. Someone earlier said this is not the same world as it was just 20 yrs ago. I do know somebody is sleeping and not doing their job. Listening to all these people stutter and choke on words tell me they fear the worst. Everyone is talking about the kids that went to school and parents showing up and taking the kids out of the schools. How many took their kids to mc d's or other places on the way home. I wonder if the lunch lady is freaking out too. All scary sad.

@redneck roy:
I would not if I did not have to. Why put myself in the potential hotbed? I don't go to many places because they creep me out on a normal day. I am somewhat of a germaphobe. I find people are becoming grosser and nastier. I find it completely selfish of this man to do this. I also heard a rumor that memorial herman at the med center has a woman as of last night. I am very surprised that people who may have been in the area of this person isn't demanding to be isolated from their loved ones. And as a matter of fact I here 80 people now, so it grows.
Bigger question is do you believe our government is telling us the truth or even the whole story?

Unfortunately you can't test for it until you are showing symptoms.

I would still go to Dallas. Wish I was headed there this week with the rest of my crew that is headed that way. I have a charity event I'm assisting with this weekend or I'd be there tomorrow!

However, I am glad I'm not doing any International travel right now.

At any rate about this man he is in a country where this is not the 1st time for Ebola to hit there, & would have to be completely stupid to not know if you are anywhere near a person with Ebola you also( may get it and die) .( HE CARRIED ) his neighbors daughter into the hospital who died & I think the son of the neighbor died also .So you say he most likely had no symptoms till he was already here . Does he not have enough smarts to understand the exposure he had & how many days till symptoms show up.I think that is him I saw a picture of on Tv either calling or texting so he is smart enough to do that . I'm sure he knows about the doctor & nurse from the US that did not die because that story I am sure went world wide .
