Those are cute!!We're making these toward the end of October...I did a "test" run and they're pretty easy! Half of a mozzarella cheese stick, some kitchen shears (or a sharp paring knife) to cut the broom effect, a pretzel stick and a thin green onion/chive for the bow. So cute (and a healthy little snack!)

There was an older lady in the small Company town I grew up in that gave out a dime to each trick or treater. We also got those wonderful homemade popcorn balls!! It's a shame that the kids of today will never know those great times because nowadays you can't really trust anyone!!!

We had one house in our 'hood whose owner worked for a record label, and they used to hand out little 45 records (anyone remember those?). We thought that was the coolest thing ever, even though we had no idea what the songs were!

The last 4 years I have done the coupons from McDonald's. Kids love them and they are cheap. 12 coupons for $1. I usually get 4 sheets and have plenty left. This year Halloween is on a Friday so may be a bit busier.

@cheryltom: Do they sell them yet? That'd be good to have a backup. Last year we ran out of candy and had to resort to fruit snacks and what not

Oh when the candy run out - we gone. Lights out. Bye bye. We used to get lots of homemade goodies when I was a kid and preferred the houses giving out "store bought".
