In the 26 yrs. I have lived on the golf course, I have had 3 windows broken and my screen on the back porch replaced twice. Not too bad. My next door neighbor has replaced a lot more broken glass than I have had to replace. I have not caught the people doing this because it always happened when I was at work. Maybe I will catch them now that I am retired. The craziest stuff happens when I catch people who actually drive their carts onto my back yard and get out and try to hit their ball. I want to strangle them. They also cut threw my yard with their carts. I usually catch them and ask them to turn around. One guy actually had the nerve to drive all over my back yard looking for his ball. Too lazy to get out of the cart and walk around, which he is not supposed to do either. Ughh!! The price of living on the golf course.
@AMCLady:
The worst place to live on the golf course, (atleast for balls hitting house/yard) is on the right side, between 150 and 200 yds from the t-box, I've always lived by the greens. I agree with you on the driving the carts, cutting through your yard (never had that happen, but I'd be chasing them down as you do), I'm an avid golfer and will let some stuff slide that most people won't, but if I see (have on rare occasions, maybe 2/3 times) an idiot driving on my yard, I'm coming out.
The walking in your yard is kinda grey area, like I said, I'll let alittle more slide as I'm a golfer, and do not mind (goes with the territory, the advantages outweigh the disadv. BIG TIME, imo) players walking in my yard whatsoever, just don't, that being said, as a player, I have boundries, I won't go up in a flower bed, look around for a while (walking back n forth), right by your house, up by a window, early morning I'll refrain (so your dogs won't bark) ect., but if I see my ball in your yard, I'll snag it for the most part.
Different subdivisions/golf courses have different rules, I lived in one that stated in the HOA rules/bylaws ect. that they give you when you buy your house, that you agree to allow golfers on your property to retrieve golf balls, but have played courses where it states on the score card that you are not supposed to enter someone's property to retrieve your ball, so its a large spectrum. I can tell you MOST golfers think it's well within their rights to retrieve them, and, I'm pretty agreeable with that myself, but try to have some tact when doing it.
